St Joseph’s by the Sea in Williamstown hosts a series of reflection days facilitated by Peter Hay focused on ecological spirituality. These gatherings explore themes such as the awakening universe, the connection between Earth and spirituality, and the wisdom found in nature.

The Poets and Artists take us into the deep spirit Exploring the poetry of Mary Oliver and the artwork of Mary Southard

Reflection day aims:
• To explore and share Mary Oliver’s poetry from a reflective and personal stance.
• To understand the context from which Mary Oliver was inspired to write her poetry.
• To experience her sense that the self is only strengthened through immersion with nature.
• To allow our own spirit to be awakened by Mary Southard’s art.
• To practice our own chosen form of artistic expression.

Content:
• This will take the form of a retreat day using the poetry of Mary Oliver and the artwork of Mary Southard to inspire our own inner journey and growth in an ecological spirituality.
• There will be an opportunity for individual and group spiritual direction during this day.

Process will include:
• A reflective day of contemplation of nature through the poetry of Mary Oliver and the artwork of Mary Southard.

About the Facilitator, Peter Hay

Peter Hay is a passionate explorer of ecological spirituality as a way of bringing us into a more authentic way of living in these critical times. He is a spiritual director, professional supervisor and a lecturer at Heart of Life.
