St Joseph’s by the Sea in Williamstown hosts a series of reflection days facilitated by Peter Hay focused on ecological spirituality. These gatherings explore themes such as the awakening universe, the connection between Earth and spirituality, and the wisdom found in nature.

The Hidden Life of Trees

Reflection day aims to deepen our sense of mystery, wonder and awe through an experience of:
• A sense of tree time.
• An experience of inclusive community.
• The inner and outer worlds of a tree.
• The movement of water in trees.
• The tragedy of deforestation.

Content:
• The life cycle of trees.
• Exploring how trees live and function best when living in community.
• A tree has an inner and outer experience of life.
• A tree’s hydrological cycle.
• The human impact on trees through deforestation.

Will include:
• Contemplative reflection
• Walking along the Williamstown foreshore and reflecting on the life of the trees.
• Sharing of insights and wisdom – communal reflection

About the Facilitator, Peter Hay

Peter Hay is a passionate explorer of ecological spirituality as a way of bringing us into a more authentic way of living in these critical times. He is a spiritual director, professional supervisor and a lecturer at Heart of Life.
