Sister Irene McCormack is martyred in Huasahuasi, Peru, by Shining Path terrorists. She is shot alongside Noe Palacios Blancos, Agustín Vento Morales, Pedro Pando Llanos and Alfredo Morales Torres, joining many dozens of priests, religious and laypeople murdered during the Years of Terror.
