Sabbath. Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives. God rested on the seventh day after finishing the work of Creation. Thomas Merton: ‘There is a pervasive form of contemporary violence……. [and that is] activism and overwork. The rush and pressure of modern life are a form, perhaps the most common form, of its innate violence. To allow oneself to be carried away by a multitude of conflicting concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit oneself to too many projects, to want to help everyone in everything, is to succumb to violence. The frenzy of our activism neutralizer our work for peace. It destroys our own inner capacity for peace. It destroys the fruitfulness of our own work, because it kills the root of inner wisdom which makes work fruitful.’ Every living creature needs time for rest to restore that which has been used.
This six-day retreat is an opportunity to listen to and reflect on our personal life and maybe find a more balanced way of living.

About the facilitator
Jennifer (Jenny) has been privileged to be working in the whole area of spirituality for the last 30 years: as a Spiritual Director, Retreat Facilitator and Supervisor in schools, diocesan and ecumenical settings. She is aware of life’s complexities and our need to listen within to allow for continual growth in every aspect of life. She finds that this ministry is life-giving personally and continues to delight as she journeys with others as they grow in awareness of their own ever-deepening relationship with their God and their growth personally.
