On 8 August, we gather to honour the life, legacy and enduring spirit of Mary MacKillop, a woman whose extraordinary courage, compassion and unwavering faith transformed the lives of countless Australians. Dedicating her life to educating the poor and marginalised, Mary founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart and established schools and charitable works across the country in places where no one else would go.
Canonised by Pope Benedict XVI on 17 October 2010, Mary MacKillop remains a powerful source of inspiration for all who seek to live their faith with boldness and humility. On her Feast Day, we come together in prayer, reflection and community to give thanks for her remarkable life.
