Principles to deepen an ecological spirituality
Reflection day aims:
• To explore an understanding of the 5 principles that support a deepening of an ecological spirituality.
• To reflect on how I might relate and connect with each principle.
• To share my growing insights and wisdom relating to ecological spirituality as a lens through which I may view my life.
Content:
• Reflect on the call from Pope Francis in Laudato Si to deepen our connection with earth.
• Explore each of the following 5 principles of building an ecological spirituality:
a. Listen to the wisdom of earth with an open, attentive and receptive
attitude.
b. Deepen your relationship with cosmos and earth, understanding
that a close bond with your own particular place is central.
c. Acknowledge the sacred in the interdependent web of life.
d. Honour the sacred in the web of life through rituals and holistic
living.
e. Live in right relationship within the interdependent web of life.
Process will include:
• Contemplative reflection and listening
• Planning and engagement in ritual and liturgy
• Artistic expression
• Sharing of insights and wisdom – communal reflection
• Walking meditation
• Developing your own response to each of the 5 principles
