What to expect

The Spirituality for Modern Living series of short retreats will provide ways of entering a more balanced way of life as you integrate the material and the spiritual into Sacred Unity (Jesus’ Aramaic name for the Source of All Being). This entity that many call God is a great communicator, so we will follow the path of revealing that is the Judaeo-Christian story, pausing on the way to connect with the practicality of everyday living. Accordingly, we will be looking at what faith really means, why pray, what is meant by ‘be perfect,’ valuing our own experience, moving from false self to the true self, and many more intriguing questions. This will also encompass opening out the blueprint for life that Jesus left us, and how to apprentice ourselves to him as he asked at the Last Supper.

Who is it for

This program is for any and all spiritual seekers, particularly those who are confused by concepts that belong in a less complex age and bind us more that free us. If you want to live in a way that understands Presence, operates with compassion, is liberating for yourself and all with whom you come into contact, and explains the reason for your existence, this is for you. Men, your inquiring minds and practical experience of life will be vital components.

What you will gain and what to expect

In following Jesus’ way of ‘agape,’ love that is unconditional, non-calculating and non-transactional, you will gain find yourself becoming more merciful, just and a bringer of peace.

Expect input that is gentle, learned and wise, conversation that is enlightening but which does not require of you more than you want or are able to give, reflection time and contemplative space. This is not a silent retreat.

What to bring

Just bring your open mind and open heart. If you wish to bring a bible or writing materials and so on, by all means do so, but your inquiring self is all that is needed.

Optional accommodation is available for those wishing to remain in the rhythm of retreat (additional rates apply).
