The Celts focused on a spirituality of oneness with all that is in both the natural and spiritual worlds. They worked with powerful imagery, artwork, blessings, prayers and practices that bound them to the Divine oneness. They drew on deep metaphorical imagery such as sacred wellsprings, thresholds, crossroads, and used practices such as dream guidance, journeying, sacred landscapes, seasonal cycles, sacred groves, spiritual friendship, intuitional heart knowing and the three-folded nature of things to feed the soul’s slow ripening. In this retreat we will draw on the writings of nature mystics, John O’Donohue, Celtic Christian writings and the book ’12 Celtic Practices for Seeking the Sacred’ by Christine Valters Paintner as we wander on our own pilgrim journeys to the heart of unity in God’s creative being.
